Computer Goodies - Pass-Through cable
Among the many cables in your computer, you may find a pass-through. It is usually used connected the side fan of your case to a power inlet. It contains a male and female molex 3-pin connector. So when connecting a fan a male molex from the power supply would go into a female molex from the pass-through. The male molex on pass-through can then be used in place of the original molex used from the power supply.
Advantages:
1. Using the pass-through gives an additional few inches to the length of the molex wire so you can reach the ends of your case.
2. The molex used from the power supply is replaced by the molex from the pass-through.
My advantage:
I used a pass-through as a protector. I had to frequently switch power between harddrives so i connected one hard drive through the pass-through. When i wanted to connect or disconnect the harddrive i just fiddled with the pass-through. This prevented the hard drive connection area from being damaged.
